Responsibilities
The College Librarian will:
- Administer the College Library.
- Coordinate library services across the teaching units.
- Manage library resources and personnel.
- Support effective access to information and research resources.
- Provide professional leadership for the Library Department.
- Promote efficient management of library resources and services.
Requirements
Candidates must meet one of the following academic and experience requirements:
- A good Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s in Library Science (MLS) from a recognised institution, with at least 15 years of cognate experience and registration with a professional library body; or
- A PhD in Library and Information Science with at least 12 years of cognate experience and registration with a professional library body.
Applicants must also:
- Be proficient in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
- Demonstrate sound human relations, professional competence and integrity.
- Have experience managing human and material resources effectively.
- Be a Chief Librarian or Deputy College Librarian for at least five years within a College of Education system.
- Be below 59 years of age at the time of assuming the appointment.
- Show substantial contribution to knowledge through research and scholarly publications in reputable journals equivalent to the standard expected of a Chief Lecturer.
Tenure and Salary
The appointment is for a single five-year tenure in line with applicable provisions.
The position attracts a consolidated salary and other benefits attached to the position of Principal Officer of the College as approved by the Federal Government.
