The Nigerian Army is inviting applications for the Short Service Combatant Commission Course 50/2027.
The SSCC is an officer commissioning route for qualified Nigerians. Officers commissioned through this course will serve in the Combat Arms and Combat Support Arms of the Nigerian Army, including:
- Infantry
- Armour Corps
- Artillery
- Engineers
- Signals
- Intelligence Corps
Both eligible civilians and serving members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria can apply.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be a Nigerian citizen by birth.
- Be male or female.
- Be between 23 and 27 years old by January 10, 2027.
- Be medically, mentally and physically fit.
- Meet the Nigerian Army’s character and disciplinary requirements.
- Possess the required academic qualification.
- Meet the stipulated minimum height.
- Possess the appropriate NYSC documentation where applicable.
- Possess the required identification and supporting documents.
Academic Requirements
Applicants must possess either:
- A first degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower Division, or
- An HND with a minimum of Lower Credit.
The qualification must have been obtained from an accredited institution. Only tertiary academic credentials obtained from 2018 to date will be considered.
Other Requirements
Male applicants must be at least 1.68 metres tall, while female applicants must be at least 1.65 metres.
Applicants must not have been convicted by any court, belong to a cult or secret society, or have been dismissed from a military or paramilitary training institution on disciplinary grounds.
Civilian applicants require an NYSC discharge certificate. Serving military personnel must provide the applicable NYSC exemption documentation and other required service documents.
Applicants should also have their birth certificate or age declaration, certificate of state of origin, NIN slip, BVN slip and educational certificates available.
Serving military personnel must have served for at least five years in the Armed Forces of Nigeria and must provide the required military identification, recommendations and sponsorship documents.
Selection and Commissioning
Successful applicants will undergo Nigerian Army military training.
Candidates who successfully complete the required training will be commissioned with the rank of Second Lieutenant.
The SSCC commission is for a period of up to 15 years, subject to the applicable conditions of service. Conversion to a Regular Combatant Commission may be possible but is not automatic.
