About LASUTH

Lagos State University Teaching Hospital developed from the former Ikeja General Hospital, which began as a cottage hospital in 1955. The facility was upgraded by the Lagos State Government in July 2001 to become LASUTH.

The teaching hospital provides tertiary healthcare services and supports the training of doctors and other healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

The Chief Medical Director will serve as the Chief Executive and Accounting Officer of LASUTH.

Key responsibilities include:

• Implementing policies affecting the day-to-day management of the hospital.
• Reporting to the Management Board or Top Management Committee where applicable.
• Relating with the Lagos State Commissioner for Health.
• Overseeing the overall administration of the hospital.
• Providing leadership for clinical governance and academic activities.
• Supervising the financial management of hospital directorates, departments and units.
• Ensuring hospital operations comply with Lagos State Public Service Rules and the LASUTH Law.

Requirements

Candidates must:

• Be a Medical Professor with administrative experience.
• Have at least 20 years of full registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria.
• Possess a current MDCN practising licence.
• Be a Fellow of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria, West African College of Surgeons, West African College of Physicians or another equivalent qualification recognised by the MDCN.
• Have at least 10 years of experience as a Medical Consultant.
• Demonstrate a proven record of integrity and leadership.
• Have evidence of management training.
• Possess clinical and medical research experience.
• Be medically fit and provide a recent medical fitness certificate.
• Possess basic ICT competence.

Tenure and Remuneration

The appointment is for an initial four-year term, renewable for another four years at the discretion of the Governor.

Salary and allowances will follow the applicable Lagos State Public Service salary structure for the position.
